gc2b presents the capsule collection “Rebel Roots,” an ode to the radical and rebellious voices of our community at its origin. Their acts of resistance broke ground and continue to pave the way so that we empower ourselves in the world. It is thanks to them that we are able to more openly and freely recognize our identities, our connection, our resilience, and our radiance through present-day Pride celebration.

Marsha P. Johnson gave life to one of those integral voices. 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a pivotal uprising which expanded LGBTQ space in society. An activist, self-identified drag queen, performer, and survivor, Marsha was a revolutionary by virtue of living authentically as a black trans woman. Her advocacy and perseverance in claiming her space led her to the forefront of the 1969 Stonewall Riots.

We are Proud to be collaborating with the Marsha P. Johnson Institute, an organization that protects and defends the human rights of black transgender people. MPJI was created to burn brightly with Marsha’s fiery spirit and light a way for black trans people in need of community. MPJI will receive a portion of proceeds from the Rebel Roots collection, and 100% of proceeds from apparel featuring their logo.

We are Proud 2b family.
